And I said life at sea was routine. This last week for you seemed just as interesting and busy as any port visit, well almost. I very closely watch my yellow schedule pamphlet and wondered what it meant by "bunkered in Singapore". I knew you were arriving in Vietnam on Saturday but guess I forgot about the other. Alot of activity on board with immigrations and preport presentations taking place that I can imagine it must have been hard to study. But I am sure you were successful in achieving the grades you wanted on the Global Studies test. The talent show sounded like alot of fun and believe your generous donation to the crew was deserving. They work very hard and over a three month period you get to know them in a way you never could on a weekly cruise. The giraffe pumpkin sounds adorable and I am glad you did some additional exploring so that this special treasure was not missed. As you near the Orient and if you have any more room for additional purchases think about Green Teas. You know I especially like them and I assume these are the places you would find them in abundance. Don't forget about some custom clothing for yourselves if time allows too. Remember to RIDE AN ELEPHANT if this is possible. I don't care how much it smells. For me personally just being in Vietnam is a memorial to Grandfather Lundy. If you visit any memorial sites which I think you will, you can say a little prayer. You could even buy some flowers in his honor and do something special with them. Present them to someone at a local market. What I am getting at is that I would choose the trip taking you to the Mekong to visit the farms, etc. Visiting and learning about the Vietnam that thrives today despite the ugly war, not walking around in dark tunnels where atrocities occured would be more educational and I think what your grandfather rather see you do. Capture the beauty and the serenity of the people and the culture; easy to do on the Mekong excursion not the other. My vote is for The MEKONG River trip.I must go now and get ready for work. I love you both very much and hope you enjoy what I hear is one of the most beautiful places on earth. I will think of you often as you ramble around in the ruins like archeologists. Have the BEST time. Love you mom.
If you have the time before you leave I would like to know briefly the itinerary for the Ankgor Wat trip. I just don't remember when you leave, how long you will be gone and what city you will be staying in. I assume you have an airline flight too. Sounds like I don't remember anything except the fact that you are going. Ha,ha! And don't forget your bug spray.Love ya!
